Fish Farmers' Development Agency


The Fish Farmers’ Development Agency is an autonomous body created for the implementation of the Mission. The Minister (i/c. Fisheries) is the Chairman of the Agency. It will have a two-tier system of organisational structure, one at the State level and other at the district level. The Director, Fisheries is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at the State level and the CEO is assisted by a Deputy Chief Executive Officer (DyCEO) in all technical as well as administrative matters.

At the District level, the Superintendent of Fisheries will function as the District Executive Officers (DEO) of the FFDA, who will be responsible for the implementation of the programmes of the Mission. The State Level Governing Body of the Fish Farmers' Development Agency in the State notified on 8.2.2012 are as follows: -

3. Non-Official Members - 2 Deputy Vice Chairmen

7. Principal Secretaries/Commissioners and Secretaries of the Department of Fisheries, Agriculture C&RD, Water Resources, Soil & Water Conservation and Cooperation Departments

8. Director of Institutional Finance, Meghalaya

9. Director, Indian Council of Agricultural Research, NER, Barapani

10. General Manager, NABARD, Shillong Region

11. 1 Representative of each District Level, Fish farmer Development Agency

12. Deputy General Manager & SLBC Coordinator, State Bank of India

13. Nominees of the Government of India, Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries, Ministry of Agriculture

14. Director of Fisheries-cum-Chief Executive Officer, F.F.D.A., Member Secretary

15. Nominees from Development Boards, Research and Development Institutions dealing in Fisheries, as notified from time to time by the Department of Fisheries

16. Fish Farmers organizations, as notified from time to time by the Department of Fisheries

17. Representative of the Fish Farmer organizations, Individual Fish Farmers and members of the Fisheries Coop Societies (9 members) to be nominated by the Department of Fisheries, subject to a maximum of 9 members.

10. 2 members from Civil Society/NGOs to be nominated by the Government of Meghalaya - Member

11. 2 members from Fish Farmers associations co-operatives to be nominated by the Government of Meghalaya - Member
